HC Deb 14 March 1939 vol 345 cc236-7W
Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can give an assurance that adequate water and drainage supplies are available in those rural areas of Scotland to which it is proposed to evacuate the populations of dangerous areas?

Mr. Colville

I have no reason to believe that the water supply and drainage services in rural areas in Scotland will impede the carrying out of the Govern- ment evacuation scheme. The circumstances of each area will, of course, be kept in view in working out definite arrangements, following the survey of accommodation which local authorities have carried out.
