§ Mr. ButlerI presume that the hon. Member refers to the Anglo-Japanese Alliance, which ceased to exist on the conclusion of the Four-Power Treaty between Great Britain, France, Japan and the United States of America. This treaty was signed at Washington on 13th December, 1921, and ratifications were exchanged on 17th August, 1923. Notification of the accession of His Majesty's Government to this treaty was made to the League of Nations on the 16th April, 1924.
