§ Mr. Brookeasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that volunteers for the Civil Nursing Reserve who send in their application forms to Romney House as directed are liable to be left for many weeks without receiving any communication whatever in reply; and whether he will secure that in the future all volunteers for this service receive, at any rate, an early formal acknowledgment of the receipt of their application, with a promise that they will be sent a further communication when their application has been examined?
§ Mr. ElliotI am informed by the Central Emergency Committee for the nursing profession that all applications are sent within 48 hours of receipt to their local representatives to arrange the necessary interviews. In some places there may have been a little delay in getting into touch with the candidates, but every effort is made to avoid this and in London alone some 2,000 candidates have been interviewed and accepted for training during 1535W the last month. I am asking the committee to consider issuing acknowledgments as suggested by my hon. Friend.
