HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 c1273W
Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that there is strong feeling that the chairmanship of the Electricity Commission should be a full-time post; and what steps he is taking to obtain the services of a good administrator to carry out these duties?

Captain Wallace

No, Sir. For the reasons which I explained to the House on the 15th November during the Debate on the Chartered and Other Bodies Bill, I am satisfied that the arrangements in regard to the chairmanship of the Electricity Commission are the best that could be ma de in present circumstances in the interests of the electricity industry and the consumers.
