HC Deb 14 December 1939 vol 355 cc1273-4W
Major Mills

asked the Minister of Transport whether officers or other ranks returning on short leave from France who have laid up their motor-cars or motorcycles, will be able to take out local taxation licences and insurance policies for short periods, and will be allowed to purchase a reasonable amount of petrol?

Captain Wallace

The reply given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 21st November, 1939, set out the existing statutory arrangements for short period licences, but I am giving careful consideration to the possibility of arranging further concessions in the case of officers and men of the British Expeditionary Force who wish to use laid-up cars or motor-cycles while on leave in this country.
