asked the Secretary of State for War how many serving soldiers, excluding staff officers are employed at the War Office on clerical duties now, compared with 1934; and how many have been there for 10 years or more, seven years or more, four years or more?

The number of serving soldiers employed on clerical duties at the War Office on 1st April last was 203, as compared with 108 on the corresponding date 1934. Of the number now so employed, 32 have been at the War Office for 10 years or more, eight between seven and ten years, and 32 between four and seven years.
