HC Deb 14 November 1938 vol 341 cc514-5W
Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Secretary of State for War what proportion of the horses owned by the War Department are docked or nicked; what proportion of these were docked or nicked after being acquired by the War Department; and whether he has any statement to make as to the policy of his Department towards such docking or nicking?

Sir V. Warrender

Except in the very rare cases in which docking is a surgical necessity owing to injury to the tail, the docking or nicking of Army horses is not permitted; nor are docked or nicked horses purchased for the Army.
