Major Hillsasked the Home Secretary whether he is aware of the exorbitant fees charged by some registry offices, both to employers and employed, and that the London County Council tried in its General Powers Bill of 1930 to secure power to the licensing authorities for London to prescribe and regulate by bylaws the fees charged to persons seeking employment through licensed employment agencies, but that this Clause was struck out of the Bill; and whether, as this power is still gravely needed, not only by the London County Council but all over the country, he can see his way to deal with the matter now by legislation?
