HC Deb 04 February 1938 vol 331 c554W
Mr. Peake

asked the Secretary for Mines what was the tonnage of coal raised in Great Britain, the tonnage commercially disposable, the tonnage exported, and the proceeds per ton disposed of in the year 1937?

Captain Crookshank

It is estimated that 241,183,000 tons of saleable coal were produced in Great Britain in 1937, of which 224,400,000 tons were disposable commercially, and 40,352,000 tons exported as cargo. Complete information is not yet available but it is estimated that during 1937 proceeds amounted to 15s. 10d. per ton disposable commercially.
