HC Deb 21 December 1938 vol 342 c2925W
Mr. Everard

asked the Minister of Transport whether there is in existence, or in preparation, any scheme to by-pass St. Albans, Redbourne, Markyate, and Dunstable, or any of them; and, if so, when the work is likely to be commenced and when completed?

Mr. Burgin

I propose in the spring to hold a local inquiry into the route of a comprehensive by-pass to St. Albans, Redbourne and Luton; the route for a by-pass to Markyate has been settled and the preparation of the necessary plans is proceeding; proposals for a by-pass to Dunstable are still in preliminary stages.
