HC Deb 12 December 1938 vol 342 c1630W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that local authorities can afford to pay milk producers a higher price for milk than they receive from the Milk Board and still show a saving as against the board's prices; and whether steps will be taken in the new Milk Bill to remedy this disability?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I assume the hon. Member refers to the difference between the wholesale prices at which milk is sold for liquid consumption and the pool prices received by the producers. It is not proposed to alter the pooling system, which is a fundamental principle of the Milk Marketing Scheme.
