The last comprehensive inquiry into the capital value and gross rental value of agricultural land in this country was undertaken in 1931, when the aggregate capital value of agricultural land, including rough grazings, in England and Wales was estimated, on the basis of average selling values, at £645,000,000, and the aggregate gross rental value at £36,700,000.
