HC Deb 24 November 1937 vol 329 c1247W
Mr. Montague

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether, in view of the widespread dissatisfaction with the composition of the committee of inquiry into civil aviation, he will take immediate steps to withdraw the members at present appointed and substitute personnel of a completely independent kind?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

I am unable to agree that the composition of the committee is open to objection on the ground referred to by the hon. Member, and my Noble Friend sees no reason for substituting other personnel.

Mr. W. Roberts

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will reconsider the appointment of Lord Cadman as chairman of the committee of inquiry into the affairs of Imperial Airways, Limited, in view of the fact that he is the director of companies which supply Imperial Airways, Limited, with oil?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

No, Sir, my Noble Friend does not feel that the fact referred to by the hon. Member is likely in the least to affect Lord Cadman's impartiality.
