HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 c959W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that the flying boat "Courtier" crashed at Athens on or about 1st October; whether he will state the details of the experience that the pilot had had in command of a flying boat; and whether he has been dismissed?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The pilot of the flying boat "Courtier," which crashed at Athens had 110 hours' flying time while employed as supernumerary captain in an Empire flying boat, and 20 hours 55 minutes' flying time in command of an Empire flying boat. I am informed that the pilot has not been dismissed but, in accordance with the normal practice of the company, he has been suspended pending an inquiry into the accident.
