§ Mr. Lunnasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what is the total 1873W number of Imperial ex-service men in Canada who are unemployed; and what provision is made for them to live?
Mr. M. MacDonaldInquiries which I have made show that no official information is available as to the total number of Imperial ex-service men in Canada who are unemployed at the present time. I am assured that in the administration of the measures of unemployment assistance adopted by the Canadian authorities, settlers from the United Kingdom receive the same consideration as native-born Canadians. United Kingdom ex-service men who are entitled to a pension of course continue to draw that pension in Canada. Imperial ex-service pensioners who arrived in Canada prior to 1st December, 1924, also receive the additional assistance which the Canadian Government provides for Canadian ex-service pensioners.
