HC Deb 08 March 1937 vol 321 c806W
Mr. Grenfell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to what countries the Non-Intervention Committee has confided the control of the eastern coast of Spain; whether His Majesty's Government is assured that such control will be exercised without prejudice to the rights of neutral trade in non-military materials; and whether coal, food and medical accessories will be permitted free entry?

Viscount Cranborne

Naval observation of the east coast of Spain from the French frontier to Cape de Gata will, subject to the final approval of the Non-Intervention Committee, be undertaken by Italian and German warships. The proposed scheme of observation under the auspices of the Non-Intervention Committee will, I understand, safeguard the points raised in the second and third parts of the hon. Member's question.
