HC Deb 02 March 1936 vol 309 cc1013-4W
Mr. M. MacMILLAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he can give any information regarding the negotiations for an air service to the island of Lewis; and whether he can give an assurance of his assistance in speeding up those negotiations, in view of the fact that the smaller islands of North and South Uist have already secured a regular service?

Sir P. SASSOON

The proposed aerodrome site at Steinish, Stornoway, is not at present large enough to be licensed. The Air Ministry has advised as to the work that is necessary, and is ready to do all it suitably can to facilitate the inauguration of an air service.
