HC Deb 29 May 1933 vol 278 cc1548-9W
Sir G. HAMILTON

asked the Minister of Health to what extent the fall in the cost of houses Since 1927 is due to the fall in the cost of building materials, wages, and contractors' overheads and profits, respectively?

Sir H. YOUNG

All that can be said with certainty is that in a number of building schemes which have been examined carried out by direct labour the fall appears to he spaced evenly over the items of materials, wages and overhead charges. I have no information on the subject of contractors' profits.
