HC Deb 09 March 1932 vol 262 c1812W
Mr. LAMBERT

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what is the total estimate now contemplated for the completion of the naval base at Singapore; how much has been contributed by other than Navy Votes; and how much will ultimately fall on the Navy Votes?

Lord STANLEY

I assume that my right hon. Friend refers to the completion of Messrs. Jackson's contract and contingent services, to which expenditure is now restricted as recommended by the Imperial Conference of 1930. The total estimate for this is £5,145,000, towards which contributions have been or will be received amounting to £2,415,000, leaving £2,730,000 as a charge upon Navy Votes.
