HC Deb 12 July 1932 vol 268 c1126W
Mr. HUTCHISON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what action his Department proposes to take to deal with the representations made to him regarding the nuisance of night flying in the Hornchurch, Upminster, and Romford neighbourhood by areoplanes attached to the Hornchurch aerodrome?

Sir P. SASSOON

The night flying exercises referred to are of a special character, and are restricted to a limited period of six weeks at a selected station. They are essential if the defence of London is to be efficient. I need hardly say all possible measures are taken to reduce the inconvenience to a minimum, and it is a case in which my Noble Friend feels justified, in the public interest, in asking for the forbearance of the community for the limited period involved.
