asked the President of the Board of Trade what countries, since 1926, have imposed new, or have augmented existing, duties upon imported silver; and what are the rates of duty imposed?

According to my information, Customs duties have been imposed, or increased, on bar silver since 1926 in the following countries: India (present duty, 4d. per oz.); Turkey (present duty, 1.6d. per oz.); Rumania (present duty, 0.18d. per oz.); Egypt (present duty, 1.2d. per oz.); Mexico (present duty, 3d. per oz.); Salvador (present duty, 1 per cent.ad valorem); and Guatemala (present duty, 1 per cent. ad valorem).
