HC Deb 12 February 1931 vol 248 c622W
Earl CASTLE STEWART

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the invitation issued by His Majesty's Government to the Governor of the Reserve Bank of South Africa to proceed to Shanghai to report upon the slump in silver has been accepted; and, if so, whether any indication can be given as to the date when the report may be expected?

Dr. SHIELS

I presume that the Noble Lord has in mind the proposal which is now under consideration of sending a mission to Hong Kong to inquire into and advise upon the question of Hong Kong currency. I am not at present in a position to make any statement as to what the composition of such a mission would be.
