asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the total annual cost of His Majesty's Ship "Erebus"; the total number of the staff, naval and civil; the total annual salaries; and the number of cadets now under training, stating those entered from public schools, training ships, etc.?

Mr. ALEXANDER

His Majesty's Ship "Erebus" is not only a training ship for naval cadets but is also a turret drill ship at Devonport and the flagship of the Commander-in-Chief. The following figures of cost, etc., include all those duties and also His Majesty's Ship "Carstairs," which is detailed for duty with "Erebus":

70 cadets are under training for the Royal Navy, comprised as follows:
