§ Sir W. EDGEasked the Minister of Transport the number of accidents at level crossings during the last 12 months; and what steps have been taken to do away with such level crossings which have the worst record in respect of accidents?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONThe number of accidents involving personal injury at level crossings, including private and footpath crossings, during 1929, was 70. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on 15th April to the hon. Member for Central Southwark (Mr. Day), in which I stated that I had received applications for grants towards schemes for the elimination of 55 level crossings.
