HC Deb 04 June 1930 vol 239 cc2173-4W
Sir H. O'NEILL

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of retired secondary and continuation school teachers on the list of pensioned school teachers in Scotland on 31st March, 1920; the number of retired public teachers other than secondary and continuation school teachers on the same list on the same date; and the amount of money paid in pensions to each category of retired teachers during the year ended on that date?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

I understand that the particulars required are those for the year ended on 31st March, 1930. The number of teachers who at that date were in receipt of pensions paid out of the Education (Scotland) Fund was 3,939, and the annual value of their retiring allowances at that date (exclusive of lump sums paid on retirement) was £561,552. As the Department's records do not arrange the beneficiaries according to the type of school in which their pensionable service was given, it is not possible to make the distinction desired by the hon. Member.
