§ Mr. WHITEasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if the trade mission to South America representing the Sheffield cutlery trade was initiated by his Department; and, if so, at what cost to the Treasury?
§ Mr. W. R. SMITHThe investigation was initiated by my Department after consultation with the Overseas Trade Development Council and with Lord D'Abernon and members of his Mission. It is anticipated that the cost to the Treasury will not exceed £750; the remainder of the expenditure, which considerably exceeds that amount, is being met from private sources.
