HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2001W
Mr. P. OLIVER

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that letters posted to Mrs. Mary Knight, of Manchester, the mother of Hugh Hutchison, one of the defendants in the Meerut trial, have been constantly withheld, including letters from Members of this House, letters from the said Hugh Hutchison posted in India, letters from her accountant posted in St. Annes-on-Sea, and letters from relatives posted in South Wales on 11th February, Cornwall on 5th August, Scotland on 21st and 25th September, and Petersfield on 26th October; and on what grounds has such action been taken?

Mr. VIANT

The answer is in the negative. All letters fully and correctly addressed to Mrs. Knight should be delivered in ordinary course of post.
