HC Deb 15 April 1930 vol 237 c2762W
Mr. NAYLOR

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the proposed increase in the school-leaving age and its effect upon apprenticeship, a provision will be included in the Bill to enable a child to leave immediately on reaching the prescribed age without being compelled to continue at school until the end of the term as at present?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

In view of the educational advantages of the arrangement under which children continue in attendance at school until the end of the term, I see no sufficient ground for proposing any modification of the present law on this point when the school-leaving age is raised.
