§ Mr. D. SOMERVILLEasked the Minister of Pensions whether, seeing that tuberculous ex-service men have periodically to travel very long journeys for official re-examination, he will say what is the maximum length of such journeys; whether any representations have been made to him in favour of a change of policy in this respect; and what is the attitude of his Department on the subject?
Mr. ROBERTSThere are 11 Medical Boards comprising tuberculosis specialists, who sit at convenient centres throughout the country, some of whom travel also to sub-centres as occasion re-quires. I have no means of ascertaining the maximum length of any journey which might be involved, but in order to meet any objections on this score it has been arranged that wherever a man feels himself unable to travel he has only to report the fact and his medical examination is thereupon arranged at his home.
