§ Mr. LANSBURYThe work of excavation to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers has my entire sympathy, hut I regret that I cannot, as at present advised, ask the Government to commit itself to the principle of subsidising the work of archaeological societies. I may add that, so far, no part of the wall has been placed in the charge of my Department.
