HC Deb 07 November 1929 vol 231 cc1272-3W
Major EDMONDSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the position of voluntary hospitals with regard to their right to recover expenses in cases where the personal damage suffered by patients has been assured against; and whether he is prepared to take steps to introduce legislation, if necessary, to remedy the present position?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am aware that the voluntary hospitals incur considerable expenditure in the treatment of motor accident cases, but I do not think that it would be practicable or desirable to provide that they should have a special legal claim to a proportion of insurance moneys in those cases where the injured person is compensated out of such moneys.
