HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 c1052W
Dr. PHILLIPS

asked the Minister of Transport what schemes for road improvements, if any, have been submitted to his Department by the Borough Council of Sunderland since 1st June, 1929; and whether such schemes have been agreed to?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

Since 1st June, 1929, the Sunderland Corporation have submitted a programme of road improvement works proposed to be carried out during the next five years. The total estimated cost of these works is given as £78,250 and the Corporation have asked that grants may be provisionally allocated pending the submission of the necessary plans and estimates. The proposals have now been investigated, and I hope to give a decision very shortly on the application for a provisional indication of the grants.
