HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 cc44-5W
Mr. FOOT MITCHELL

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether a list of the professional valuers on the panel of the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation is now available; whether he is satisfied that the list is adequate to ensure that a valuer shall be readily accessible to all farmers desiring loans under the Agricultural Credits Act, 1928: whether any one valuer is responsible for more than one county; and if he has received any complaints that the travelling expenses of the valuer have unduly increased the charges payable by the borrower?

Mr. GUINNESS

The appointment of valuers is entirely a matter for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation, and I am not in a position either to ask for the list to be made available to the public or to express an opinion as to its adequacy. In regard to the last part of the question, I have received a complaint of the kind referred to by my hon. Friend, and I have brought it to the notice of the Corporation.
