HC Deb 27 November 1928 vol 223 cc260-1W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Minister of Health what has been the average annual death rate per 1,000 of the population from small-pox during the 10 years 1918– 1927 in each of the following countries: England and Wales, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Egypt, India, and Japan?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The average annual death rate from small-pox during the period in question was for England and Wales 0.0005, for Switzerland 0.0004, and for the Netherlands 0.00006, per 1,000 population. The information at my disposal does not enable me to give the rate for the other countries named.
