HC Deb 27 November 1928 vol 223 c247W
Mr. DUCKWORTH

asked the Postmaster-General what are the hours worked by night operators in the telephone department on each night of the week in London and, if there is any difference, in the provinces.

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

Full time night telephonists, both in London and the provinces, give a weekly attendance of 45 hours. In the majority of eases the men give three long attendances (8 p.m.-8 a.m.) and three short attendances (8 p.m.-11 p.m.) each week; but various other arrangements of hours are adopted as local circumstances dictate.
