WILLIAMSExcluding three cases dealt with in connection with McKenna duties, and one case dealt with under the Key Industry section of the Safeguarding of Industries Act, 1921, there have been 45 applications of which two are in abeyance and one is under consideration. 20 applications have been referred to Committees, and Safeguarding duties have been imposed in nine cases.

§ Mr. H. WILLIAMSI am afraid I must adhere to the established practice, which has frequently been referred to in the House, of not stating whether a particular industry has or has not made an application under the Safeguarding procedure, except on the appointment of a Committee of inquiry.
§ Mr. WELLOCKasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the amount of revenue received by the Treasury from import duties on imported goods covered by the provisions of the Safeguarding of Industries Act in each half-year during the last six years, and the dates within this period on which new manufactures were brought under the provisions of that Act?
