HC Deb 23 May 1928 vol 217 cc1905-6W
Captain CROOKSHANK

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what steps will be taken to keep the British High Commissioner in Canada in touch with both foreign affairs and matters pertaining to the League of Nations, seeing that he will be under the Dominions Office; and whether he will reconsider the latter proposal and recommend that this official shall report direct to the Prime Minister?

Mr. AMERY

It is intended that the High Commissioner should be kept fully supplied with all the information necessary to him for the efficient performance of his duties, including, so far as is necessary, information on Foreign Affairs and on matters connected with the League of Nations. The detailed arrangements are still under discussion. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
