asked the Secretary for Mines the quantity of coal raised in South Staffordshire and North Worcestershire during the first four months of the present year; the average number of men employed and the total wages they received; and the figures for the corresponding period in 1924?

During the first four months of 1928 the output of saleable coal in South Staffordshire and Worcester was 579,200 tons, the average number of wage-earners employed was 5,450 and the estimated total wages bill was £192,400. The corresponding figures for 1924 were 627,800, 6,150 and £239,300, respectively.
