§ Commander BELLAIRSasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether the railway companies have yet revived the concession which was given before the War by which, under certain restrictions, a return ticket was granted at the cost of a single fare to the officers and men of the Royal Navy and Army?
§ Colonel ASHLEYThe railway companies have not seen their way to reinstate the pre-war arrangements, but they have agreed to a concession under which men of the Navy, Army and Air Force in uniform travelling on leave can obtain return tickets under certain restrictions at the ordinary single fare and a third. They have also recently male a similar concession to officers proceeding on leave, but their tickets are first class only, and are issued subject to a minimum fare of 5s.
