HC Deb 14 November 1927 vol 210 c655W
Mr. DIXEY

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the general discontent throughout the country owing to the inequality of wages and conditions between sheltered and competitive trades and skilled and unskilled occupations in certain trades; and whether he will consider setting up an inquiry into the general conditions of labour in the country?

Mr. BETTERTON

I have been asked to reply. I do not think that such an inquiry as my hon. Friend suggests would promote the settlement of the problems raised by inequalities of wage rates in different trades.
