HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 cc1951-2W
Mr. RENNIE SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has received any information concerning the inquiry as to Mr. Jasper Abraham, of Kenya?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

I am much obliged to the hon. Member for affording me this opportunity of giving publicity to the facts. The Governor of Kenya reports that there is no ground for the suggestion that Mr. Jasper Abraham has again been brought to trial for assaulting a native; that he has not been accused much less convicted, of any offence since his sentence in 1923; and that he is believed on all sides to be doing his utmost to retrieve his character.
