HC Deb 16 February 1927 vol 202 cc943-4W
Sir J. NALL

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the importance of adequate playground amenities to an elementary school, the grants paid to non-provided schools are calculated with due regard to expenditure necessarily incurred in maintaining or improving playgrounds; and whether any guidance as to the principle to be followed in this matter has been communicated to local aulthorities?

Duchess of ATHOLL

No specific grants are made to non-provided public elementary schools, and, therefore, no question can arise as to the calculation of expenditure incurred in maintaining or improving the playgrounds of such schools.
