HC Deb 16 February 1927 vol 202 c944W
Colonel DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that, during the wireless broadcast of the opening of Parliament on the 8th February, reference was made by the narrator to the volumes of black smoke emanating from a chimney of this House; and whether any steps have been contemplated with a view to abating this nuisance?

Captain HACKING

Since the Department has reverted to the use of Welsh steam coal, no official complaints regarding smoke have been received.
