HC Deb 12 April 1927 vol 205 c215W
Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the number of passengers to and from the Continent for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date who have not been in possession of regular passports?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I have been asked to reply. I understand that the hon. Member has in mind the special arrangement whereby passports may be dispensed with in connection with excursion traffic. The total number of aliens who travelled on both inward and outward excursions under this arrangement during 1926 was 3,835. I regret that complete figures for British subjects are not available, but the number carried by the special Folkestone-Boulogne boat during July, August and September was over 25,000.
