HC Deb 04 April 1927 vol 204 c1711W
Colonel DAY

asked the President of the Board of Education the number of elementary schools that are at present in the course of construction in England and Wales; and when it is expected they will be completed?

The following table shows the number of elementary schools for which plans have been approved during the two years ended 31st March, 1027, but which, so far as I am aware, have not yet been opened:

Council Schools. Voluntary Schools. Total.
New schools 128 12 140
Replacements 100 28 128
It is not possible to state the probable date of completion, which in each case depends upon the date of commencement, the size of the buildings and other local factors.

These figures do not include additions and extensions.
