asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware of the criticism of the inadequate fees paid to artistes for broadcasting; and whether he will consider the desirability of devoting the whole of the fees for licences to the better payment of artistes and the provision of up-to-date entertainment programmes?

The question of the remuneration of artistes will be a matter for consideration by the governors of the new Broadcasting Corporation. I am not prepared to adopt the suggestion in the latter part of the hon. Member's question.
