HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 cc1636-7W
Mr. BARKER

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the result of the examination held in July, 1925, of temporary (ex-service) civil servants for admission to the clerical class of the permanent Civil Service; and is he aware that over 20,000 ex-service temporaries sat and many of these are anxiously awaiting the result of the examination?

Mr. McNEILL

I hope that the result of the examination referred to by the hon. eMmber will be declared in the course of next week. I can fully appreciate the anxiety felt by those who sat at the examination, and I can assure the hon. Member that the laborious task of tabulating the result of the examination, which was attended by between 19,000 and 20,000 candidates, is proceeding with the utmost expedition.
