HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 cc1633-4W
Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND - TROYTE

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the unemployment now prevailing at Dawlish, he will give favourable consideration to an application for a grant from the Unemployment Grants Committee, in order to relieve the burden on the local rates?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I understand that applications to the Unemployment Grants Committee by the local authority at Dawlish for State assistance in respect of certain works have not been granted on the ground that unemployment in the area cannot be regarded as exceptional.
