§ Major GLYNasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what was the total sum obtained by the sale of maps prepared and printed by the Ordnance Survey during 1925; and what steps have been taken to increase their sales by advertisement and the greater encouragement of the authorised agents to promote sales by the provision of better facilities of stock holding, etc.?
Mr. GUINNESSThe total receipts from the sale of Ordnance Survey maps during the year ended 31st December, 1925, was £53,925. Advertisements are inserted from time to time in the daily Press, educational, motoring, technical and other publications which reach various classes of map-users, and publicity is also effected by the distribution of leaflets, show-cards, etc. Every encouragement is given to the authorised agents to stock the large scale maps covering their district, while in many cases complete sets of the county maps are held. In addition to the authorised agents, booksellers and stationers all over the country stock the small-scale maps on the usual trade terms. Two ommercial travellers are constantly employed in the Provinces and one in the Metropolitan area.
