HC Deb 25 February 1926 vol 192 cc753-4W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether any portion of the additional sum of £500,000 for agricultural education and research which has been paid into a development fund will be devoted to veterinary education and research; and, if so, whether it will be wholly devoted to England and Wales, or if a portion, and how much, will be spent on similar purposes in Scotland?

Mr. GUINNESS

The sum to which the hon. Member refers is not specifically divided between England and Wales on the one side, and Scotland on the other. It is at present contemplated that, if required, and subject to the approval of the Treasury and Development Commissioners, approximately £100,000 should be spent in England and Wales for the purpose mentioned out of such part of the £500,000 as may be available for those countries. As regards expenditure in Scotland, the hon. Member should approach my right hon. Friend, the Secretary for Scotland.
